The Catbird Seat

Evenings out for dinner should never be a “cookie cutter” experience. Unfortunately, it’s not that hard to pay good money for average tasting food prepared by a faceless chef amidst a noisy crowd – finding yourself at the end of a forgetful evening almost as soon as it began. Opening in Nashville this month, The Catbird Seat wants to offer you a better, more interesting option that aims to leave you with a memorable culinary night.
The Catbird Seat sprang from the minds of entrepreneur brothers Max and Benjamin Goldberg whose successful ventures include the Patterson House, Merchants and Paradise Park. When asked about their new restaurant they said, “The concept is that chefs Josh Habiger and Erik Anderson are going to cook really phenomenal food four nights a week and you’re going to watch. Thirty seats will surround the kitchen of these masterminds and you can fill one of those spots.”
Located in the space above the Patterson House, Josh and Erik will present an ever-changing menu that will reflect their creativity, inspiration and the current season. It will consist of seven tasting courses, with an optional drink pairing for each. But the experience will not only come from the quality of the food, but the chance to interact with both chefs, as the kitchen is surrounded by a U-shaped table for the diners. So if you have a question about the preparation of the bison fillet on your plate, you can ask the chef directly.
The restaurant will be open Wednesday through Saturday night, and with only 30 seats available, a reservation will be necessary. An evening at The Catbird Seat should last around 2.5 hours, so plan accordingly.
